Situated 18 kilometres from the Perth metropolitan area, Rottnest Island is one of the most popular boating destinations in Western Australia and provides all that is required for a relaxing get-away. The surrounding coastline is a marine sanctuary and has some of the most pristine reefs, beaches and bays in the world and the southernmost tropical coral reef in Australia. Overall, 450 species of fish and 20 species of coral are found in Rottnest Island waters providing fantastic snorkelling and diving. Bottlenose Dolphins and Australian Sea Lions can also be seen in the surrounding waters of Rottnest Island at various times of the year.
